A Bride’s Journal | Jade & Dave | Part Two |

We’ve been catching up with real bride, Jade, today about her big day plans! If you haven’t already, swing by the blog to read the first instalment of her bridal journey right here. With a glorious summer wedding in August, it’s not long until Jade & Dave tie the knot at Shustoke Farm Barns. We’re getting the lowdown with Jade all about their wedding day preparations…

What is your colour palette / wedding theme?

We haven’t chosen a particular theme for the wedding, we just want it to feel quite rustic and relaxed. The colour palette we’ve gone for is green, white and gold with some hints of blush pink – again we want to keep it quite natural but I just had to get in some metallic hints.

How will you be decorating your wedding venue?

One of the things we loved most about our venue was the rustic features and the fact that we wouldn’t have to decorate it too much! The decorations will be pretty minimal other than our table centres and a few DIY decorations that reflect our love of gin!

Have you picked out your wedding favours?

We’ve actually decided not to do traditional wedding favours and instead we’re going to donate the money to charity. We couldn’t find any ideas that we really liked so this just seemed a better use of the money instead of wasting it on favours that we didn’t really want.

How have you found the wedding planning journey?

We’ve had a two year engagement so we have plenty of time to plan so I haven’t felt any stress or pressure (yet!) As a person I’m an organiser so I have really enjoyed planning everything so far, I actually don’t know what I’m going to do with spare time when it’s over! I think the key to it is to tackle one job at a time and getting ticked off your list and not give yourself too many things to do at once!

Do you know where you’ll be going / what you’ll be doing on your hen party?

I’m very excited to be heading to Portugal for a weekend in a villa with my hens. The rest of the plans are top secret and are being taken care of by my mum and bridesmaids. I have to admit, my only bridezilla moment has been regarding my hen party, I have insisted on nothing too embarrassing… Fingers crossed they listen to me!

How did you ask your bridesmaids to be a part of your bride tribe?

At the time my bridesmaids were spread out across the country so it would have been difficult to do something in person. Instead I found some cute cards on Not On The High Street where you can write a personal message and cover it with a sticker that can be scratched off like a scratch card. So I simply wrote ‘will you be my bridesmaid?” under the sticker and posted each card to them with a penny and waited for the response!

Are there any wedding traditions you’ll be sticking to / ignoring?

As I said earlier, we’re not having traditional wedding favours and also my dad and I won’t be doing a father/daughter dance as both of us would rather not be the centre of attention! We are keeping a lot of other traditions such as the first dance (much to Dave’s annoyance) and also it was really important to me to walk down the aisle with my Dad.

What part of the wedding are you most looking forward to?

It’s so hard to pick one part of the day as we’re looking forward to everything about it but I guess the best part for us will be having all of our family and friends there to celebrate with us and dance the night away! As cringey as it sounds, personally I can’t wait to walk down the aisle and see Dave at the other end, that’s what all this planning has been for after all!

We are getting super excited for their special day – keep an eye out for their next instalment!
