A Bride’s Journal | Jade & Dave | Part Three |
We are super excited to be catching up with our Save the Date Bride, Jade, who is tying the knot with Dave this Summer at Shustoke Farm Barns. You can read Jade’s most recent journal right here! We’re having a chat with Jade all about those last-minute big day details and how she’s finding wedding planning. So, grab a cup of tea and catch up!
Thanks for reading part three of my Bride’s Journal, the wedding is coming up fast now and I’m in full planning mode!
The Hen Party
I haven’t been on my hen do yet, I’m off to Portugal in June to a villa with my girls and I can’t wait! That’s all I know about the plans for the hen, my mum and bridesmaids have kept everything else under wraps, which is very hard for me as I’m a bit of a control freak!
How did you know your wedding dress was ‘The One’?
Finding my dress was a very long process, I think in all I must have tried more than 60 dresses and after visiting 8 bridal shops I was beginning to lose hope. Then I visited Tilly Trotters in Leamington Spa and there was such a gorgeous selection of dresses that I had a good feeling about that day. I’m not a very emotional person so I knew I wouldn’t be bursting into tears when I tried on “the dress” but the dress I chose was the first one that I could really picture myself in on my wedding day and walking down the aisle so that’s when I knew it was the one I wanted.
Have you done any beauty prep ahead of the big day? E.g any favourite products that you’d recommend to our Save the Date Brides?
I’ve definitely made a conscious effort to look after my hair and skin in the run up to the big day and I’ve got a skincare regime that I’ve been using for the last couple of months that I’ll be sticking with until the wedding. Firstly, I’ve been making a big effort to drink more water to help my skin and secondly I’ve tried not to introduce anything too different or harsh into my skincare routine as my skin can be sensitive. I’ve been using Liz Earle products for years now and would recommend them to anyone, I use the hot cloth cleanser religiously every night and I’ve recently been using their Superskin Night oil which I really love. For a toner I’m using the Pixi Glow tonic which I’ve heard amazing things about and then my fabulous make up artist, Josephine Way, introduced me to the Clinique Moisture Surge moisturiser which I went out and bought straight away after she used it on me!
Have you chosen any hair accessories?
I don’t really want to give too much away about my look for the day and I haven’t quite finalised my hairstyle just yet but I’m definitely going to keep things pretty simple in terms of accessories. Less is more I think.
What sort of things have you got left to plan?
It feels like we’ve just got lots of little jobs left to do at this point and nothing big left to plan… but I’m very aware that lots of little jobs can soon build up if we leave it too last minute. We’ve got more decorations to buy or make for the tables and venue and we need to finalise our table plan, although dare I say, we might have it nailed – unless someone cancels! I’m now at the point of getting excited to plan more for our honeymoon as we leave two days after the wedding.
How will you be spending the night before the wedding, e.g pamper evening?
I’m going to be staying at some cottages near the venue with my mum, my bridesmaids and some other family members and we’ll definitely be having a chilled one with some pampering and possibly the odd glass of fizz… I think by that time I’ll definitely be in need of a relaxing time with my girls!
Have you done any DIY decorations and details?
I wouldn’t consider myself a particularly crafty or creative person but I have made a few DIY decorations for the wedding as we wanted to save some money where possible and I also wanted to add a personal touch to the decor… all I say is I’m getting addicted to spray painting things! Pinterest has been brilliant when it comes to ideas, hacks and tutorials on wedding DIY, although It’s easy to get carried away if you’re not careful. eBay has also been really useful for finding some items that we have repurposed for the wedding, I’m not giving much away as I want it to all be a surprise for our guests!
Keep your eyes peeled for Jade’s next instalment, where we’ll be finding out all about her hen party! In the meantime, don’t forget to swing by our Cream of the Crop Wedding Directory where you can discover our hand-picked collection of wedding suppliers in the East Midlands.
