A Brides Journal | Jade & Dave
We can’t get enough of weddings here at Save the Date Magazine and we just love hearing from all of our wonderful Save the Date Brides and Grooms, which is why we’re over the moon to be sharing Jade and Dave’s wedding planning journey with our readers. Today we’re finding out a little more about this delightful duo, how they met and their initial wedding planning thoughts. So, let’s get stuck in and meet Jade and Dave…
Tell us a little bit about yourselves?
I’m 26 and I live in Derbyshire with my fiancé Dave and our cat, Archie. I work for a home interiors company and Dave is a regional sales manager.
How did you and your husband-to-be meet?
We met at Nottingham Trent University where we were both studying media. We’ve now been together 5 years.
How did he propose?
We had planned a trip to Dublin over the August bank holiday weekend in 2016 where Dave had originally planned to propose. However, as the time got closer he changed his plans for something more personal – plus he was also panicking about the ring being found at airport security! The day before we left for Dublin he surprised me with a video he’d made with photos/memories from our relationship accompanied by my favourite song. At the end of the video he came into the room with Archie our cat who was wearing a red ribbon around his neck with the ring attached. I then of course, immediately burst in to tears and repeatedly asked if he was joking before eventually saying yes!
How long to go until your big day?
We are getting married on 31st August 2018, so we have less than 8 months to go!
What element of your wedding is most important to you both?
For us, the photography was a really key element of the day as the photographs are what you have left at the end of the day to remember it all by! That’s why searching for a photographer was top of our hit list once we’d booked the date. We found the amazing Graze Elizabeth photography through the Save the Date Instagram page and once we met Grace and Mitch in person we knew they were the ones for us!
Have you chosen your wedding venue?
We have booked the stunning Shustoke Farm Barns in Warwickshire for our ceremony and reception. We really wanted our day to be relaxed, informal and fun so we wanted a venue that fitted this and we pretty much fell in love with the rustic Shustoke Barn as soon as we walked in. The ceremony room has incredible high ceilings and there’s a lovely outdoor courtyard to hopefully enjoy some English summer weather – fingers crossed!
What’s been your favourite part of wedding planning so far?
I’ve generally loved the whole planning process – except budgeting, obviously – especially going to wedding fairs and reading wedding blogs to find inspiration.
What’s been your least favourite part of wedding planning?
Although I did initially love the process of looking for my wedding dress, I found that I was struggling to find ‘the one’ and after visiting seven bridal shops (including a trip to London) I was being to lose hope that I would ever find anything! Thankfully, I did find my dress at the lovely Tilly Trotters boutique in Leamington Spa.
Describe how you want your wedding day to be in three words?
Relaxed, personal and memorable
We’re seriously excited to hear more about Jade and Dave’s wedding planning journey, their ideas for their day and how they’ve found it all so far. Keep your eyes peeled for their next instalment in March, but in the meantime if you need another dose of real wedding inspo, pop over to the blog now!
