Ben & Mari’s Chilled Countryside Wedding

Ben & Mari married in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.  Their intimate, rustic wedding reception held in the fabulous Peaktipis created a magical day.  Mari’s dress was inspired by Pippa Middleton’s Royal wedding bridesmaid dress and teamed with a gypsophila flower crown, I’m sure you’ll agree Mari looked stunning.

Over to Mari to tell you a little more about their big day.

“We got married at St Michaels and All Saints church in Kniveton, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire.  For us there was no special connection to the church, however the personal feel and miniature, cosy size of the place sealed the deal.  Our reception was held at Standlow Farm, Kniveton, overlooking the beautiful English Derbyshire countryside – and for a Norwegian like myself, that is a dream come true.

The style of our wedding was very relaxed, with a summer/countryside theme throughout.  We wanted the 55 guests who attended the wedding to feel apart of the wedding, and not just pieces in a big day spectacle.  We are also two very relaxed people who would rather share the spotlight than be the centre of attention – something a chilled out countryside wedding accomplished perfectly.

The dress was actually a replica of the one Pippa Middleton wore to the Royal wedding, however because I am Norwegian I chose it because it was exactly how I would have imagined a dress – simple, but stunning at the same time. It was actually the first dress I saw, and I knew straight away that was the one I wanted.

We had many great suppliers; We had Peaktipis arrange a double tipi tent were we could be secluded from everything. The flowers (which stole the show!) were arranged by Twisted Willow Florists, Rebecca was truly amazing and she comes highly recommended.

The professional photos were taken by Becki from Red Square Photography. Simply outstanding service, fitting into the wedding effortlessly and capturing every moment perfectly. We couldn’t have picked a better photographer!

The canapés and 3 course meal was cooked and deliver with a smile from Thomas the Caterer – the food was delicious, and he made the whole thing gluten-free which helped a lot of our guests.

Much of the stationary came from various places, however Little Paperie in Ashbourne created the menu cards and order of service books among with others.  They were great!

The wedding car was actually supplied by family friends Steve and Lesley, but we believe this was a one off for us! 😉

The wedding cake and cupcakes, along with the home-made sandwiches for the evening top up meal which was supplied by Molehills Kitchen.

And literally the rest of what you see – the bar, cake stands, bunting, glassware, etc was created and delivered by our families – they were the real heroes of the day!

The biggest piece of advice is to get the husband involved as well – he’ll enjoy it just as much as you, and you can actually enjoy the day.  It was a perfect day for us both, and I wouldn’t have changed anything.
