A day in the life of a wedding photographer…

Today we're chatting to the team at Sarah Salotti Photography to find out exactly what it takes to be a wedding photographer…

FIND OUT WHA TIT TAKES TO CAPTURE REAL LOVE STORIES…

We understand just how important choosing the right photographer is for your wedding day. You want to make sure all of those magical memories that you’re going to create are captured for you and your loved ones to enjoy long after your special day. We’ve always admired the work of Sarah Salotti Photography and we can’t get enough of her beautiful, personal style. We’re giving you a sneak peek into the daily life of a wedding photographer, we’ll hand you over to Sarah and Marco so you can find out more about what it takes to capture real love stories…

SHOOTING SOMEONE'S WEDDING IS A MIX OF ANTICIPATION, CHALLENGE AND EXCITEMENT…

“There is that lovely feeling you get when you wake up knowing you are shooting someone’s wedding. It is a mix of anticipation, challenge and excitement. Final chat through with each other on how the day unfolds and we set off on our separate ways. Me to the bride, Marco to the groom.”

WATCHING THE DAY UNFOLD…

“Camera to eye, soaking up all that energy, finding the visual links and narratives as they unfold in front of you. Our day has really started… We also get to take pictures of the bride (and groom) & their squads looking mighty fine, occasionally offering advice, smoothing over worries, and when needed buttoning up dresses.”

IT'S TIME FOR THE CEREMONY…

“The next bit really speeds up and there are many key shots to capture. Bride is in place outside, groom waiting nervously, Vicar or registrar spoken to about how they want us to operate during the service and breathe. Photographing during the service can vary massively. Always professional, we sometimes have the blessing to operate fairly freely other times you can only shoot the signing. We always ask our couples to check this out before.”

CAPTURING THE CHATTER AND CELEBRATIONS…

“Before you know it bride and groom are up the aisle bursting into daylight. Amongst the excited chatter and celebrations, one of us on bride and groom, the other on candid and organising the confetti. Quick jump in the car and a drive to the reception. This is the time to get the images that the bride & groom love to see; the things they missed as they moved around their guests.”

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE EMOTIONS…

“Groups shots next! Once that is done and dusted, it’s our first chance to congratulate and share in the excitement as we whisk the newly weds away for a bit of quiet time and some considered stylistic portraiture work – we LOVE this time. Next it’s the speeches. This is all about capturing the emotions, from tears to laughter. It’s probably not the first time in the day that I can be brought to tears too.”

IT'S PARTY TIME!

“Get ready for the first dance by setting up my flashes and light stands and then PARTY TIME! People really let their hair down and have fun with the camera.”

WE'VE WITNESSED THE LOVE AND HAPPINESS…

“Then it’s home time! All my couples are amazing at this point as I’ve witnessed the love and happiness between them and their guests all day long. I always drive home crazily happy and slightly wired, ready to start the download of my cards and the back up operations. And often can’t help but have a sneaky peek of what we have created. No wedding is ever the same and that is what makes this job one of the best jobs ever!”
