Beauty and the Beach ~ Theme Thursday

Beauty and the Beach ~ Theme Thursday

It’s Theme Thursday and we have another wedding theme which is perfect for the Summer season. And that is Beach theme! This is quite a broad theme in terms of what path you take with your beach theme. You could go down a more nautical route with navy blue and white colour schemes, you could include sailing decorations such as anchors, and rubber rings. Another way you could create a beach theme is by going down a more natural route with items such as driftwood, coral, shells and sand.

The colour palette is fairly simple with the beach theme. Almost any shade of blue would be ideal, you could opt for a few shades of blue to mimic the shades of the ocean. Sandy beige colours would look great for the men’s suits. If blue isn’t your favourite colour why not go for coral pinks instead. You could add shimmering pinks that look like pearls and shells. These colours would work well with white and beige.

If you are a thrifty bride why not head down to your nearest beach and see if there are any natural materials you could use to decorate your wedding. You might find some nice shells and pebbles and even some driftwood you could use to write signs on or create table plans.

You can buy items online for your decorations, such as faux shells, coral and Starfish. These would look lovely scattered over your tables as centre pieces. Hessian is a woven brown fabric that would be perfect for this theme. You could create table runners or streamers with it.

Shells are so versatile, you can add them to anything to create the beach theme. You and your bridesmaids could have shells clipped into your hair or even have a bouquet made out of shells!

If you are planning to have your wedding actually on the beach, then the theme is pretty much already there! You would need minimal decoration to help tie-in your wedding reception to the ceremony that was held on the beach. Like the images above an alter can be made out of a frame covered in white linen – this creates the focal point of the ceremony with out taking away from the view behind it.

However, if you aren’t heading down to the beach to say your I do’s but want to inject that feeling of being by the sea with the sand under your toes, there are lots of ways you can bring the beach to you…
