Elegant Boho in Spring
Yeldersley Hall is an elegant and charming English country house just on the outskirts of the market town of Ashbourne. It has hosted many intimate family weddings and is a favourite venue with local suppliers too. So when we were asked to be part of an inspiration shoot late this spring we all welcomed the opportunity to return!
What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
“The palette for the shoot was muted modern tones, looking to ochre, amber and cinnamon as the key colours. With an elegant bohemian style, the dress choice was crucial. We chatted to the wonderful Lorraine and Sandra from Lori G and they suggested two amazing dresses from their Riki Dalal range. One with long sleeves, which gave a slight retro 70s vibe whilst remaining elegant at the same time. The other was a stunning trouser number with a flowing overskirt. Just perfect!”
Talk us through the venue...
“The venue boasts a beautiful house, with the recent addition of the stables which can be used for your drinks reception. With gardens that surround the hall and an amazing display of wisteria if you time it right (you’ll see those later in the shoot!) it is a venue that can work with all styles.
Yeldersley has a very handsome ceremony room, with a statement fireplace and wonderful windows, but neither had the feel we wanted for the ceremony so Nadia created a moongate backdrop with lots of textures, grasses and candles to make the perfect backdrop. This really lifted the space and the wooden floors, and light walls worked beautifully with the floral tones.”
Describe the styling...
“The wedding breakfast styling was understated and pretty, with paper lanterns hanging in shades to compliment the style. The tables were styled by Tara from Ticketyboo Events with lots of honey coloured candles, amber glass and draped runners. The top table was styled with a mixture of textured fabrics and candles which created a romantic feel. The flowers continued the theme from the backdrop and featured more grasses, orchids, poppies and anthuriums.”
Which suppliers did you use?
“Ivy Oak Designs created name places and signage that finished off the styling, opting for acrylic with a paint washed background in peachy tones and handwritten detail.
There were two cakes to chose from, both designed by Hannah at Bake, one elegantly waited in the ceremony room complete with a floating tier and hand painted freeform design, while the other was nestled in the stables, dressed with fresh blooms and gold leaf.”
Who captured it all on camera?
“Finally, we needed a photographer and who else could we chose than Ben from HBA Photography. He is just the best photographer, the nicest guy and we knew he could deliver the concept we were hoping for. He smashed it! This was truly the dream team! We’ve all worked together on many occasions now – I love the images from this shoot, they are so beautiful, everything came together so well! Happy Days!”
