Aloha! Tropical Twist Weddings ~ Theme Thursday

Aloha! Tropical Twist Weddings ~ Theme Thursday

Today’s Theme Thursday is bursting with bright bold colours, heaps of big green foliage and a fair amount of Pineapples!

Tropical weddings don’t have to be reserved for couples living in tropical countries or for those who can afford to jet off for a tropical paradise destination wedding. It’s easier than you think to create a whole new world within your venue on your big day. Even if it’s cold and raining outside, with the right flowers, colour palette and styling you can bring a hot tropical rainforest to England!

A key aspect of a tropical wedding is the flowers and foliage. You want to create that rainforest vibe (without over doing it and turning you venue into a jungle of course). Because the focus is on plants, these will be your main source of decoration. Wooden tables will be your best bet with this theme, as wood is a natural material. If you can’t get wooden tables you could cover your tables with bamboo mats. For table decorations you could go for a tropical floral display of big palm leaves. These would work best in tall slim vases to allow the large leaves to hang above your guests as they may obstruct their view. There are lots of different tropical flowers, all with their own stunning colours. Aim to stick to only to a few colour shades such as, oranges and pinks or blues and purples. Too many colours might be a bit much.

Tropical fruits are a must have with this theme, whether you chose to have them in your menu or as decoration… or both! Why not have tropical fruity cocktails such as Piña Coladas and Strawberry Daiquiris. Coconuts and pineapples would make great decorations as centre pieces or to decorate a buffet or drinks station. Pineapples seem to be this years symbol of summer on the high street, with lots of shops selling clothes with printed pineapples on, adding pineapples to your wedding would be very on trend.

We’ve given you a little introduction into how you could create a beautiful tropical inspired wedding. It’s such a simplistic but absolutely stunning theme. When you come to designing every aspect of your wedding, whether it’s big such as the venue or small such as your guests’ favours, if you have tropical foliage and fruit in your mind… you can’t go wrong!

Here are some lovely images for inspiration, with plenty of ideas to get you going. (I wonder how many pineapples can be seen in these images?)
