All Things Pretty – Nice Day for a White Wedding
Today we hand you over to Gemma from The Wedding of my Dreams who is a regular contributor to Save the Date magazine to talk about all things white and wonderful…………
For a timeless wedding you can’t go wrong with classic white. Keeping everything white, clean and crisp will create a sophisticated, elegant and peaceful atmosphere at your wedding.
There has been a growing trend towards white weddings over the past year with couples choosing an off white or neutral colour pallet for their bridal party.
You don’t have to stick to pure white, your colour pallet can include nude, off white and soft peach tones.
Almost all venues would work for a sophisticated white wedding, a country manor house or stately home would be enhanced by pure white décor or a more rustic style venue with wooden beams would make a lovely contrast with the white details.
Keeping to all white florals is always a stunning look even if you choose to add colour in other areas. You could keep to all one flower throughout the day or mix the textures of different blooms whilst keeping the colour pallet neutral.
There are a wide choices of beautiful blooms available in white… peonies, hydrangeas, roses, gypsophilia, astilbe, ranunculus or even cotton.
When thinking about white décor at your reception, don’t forget the outside spaces. Simply hanging lengths of white ribbon from trees can make a beautiful entrance and backdrop for photos.
Within the venue, keep to white linen on the tables, white bunting from the ceiling and white florals. A sprinkling of white flakes over the table cloth with a mix of white votives and candle sticks will create a romantic glow throughout the room.
For favours, perhaps a white lovebird on each guests place setting, a scrabble heart on favour boxes or a sprig of gypsophilia on guests napkins.
Group a range of white photo frames together for a DIY table plan. Follow this through by displaying your table names in white photo frames on the tables.
Personalise your details by creating large signs around the venue, you could have white cut outs of your initials, welcome signs or LOVE dotted around the venue.
For your cake I love the idea of keeping it simple, have you thought of a plain white cake with a fun cake topper? At The Wedding of my Dreams we have a range of cake toppers to jazz up plain cakes, It’s A Nice Day For A White Wedding or Mr & Mrs would be perfect for this look.
Alternatively if you and your fiancé have a really sweet tooth and one cake just isn’t enough, a dessert table all in white would look oh so elegant, a beautiful white tiered cake surrounded by cupcakes, white macaroons, and white bon bons and cotton in footed sweet jars.
