All Things Metallic {Wedding Trends}

Today’s blog post features a new trend in the world of weddings – metallics. This trend is new and fresh and has been creeping in for sometime now.

This trend is flexible and can be incorporated into any aspect of your wedding, for example, wedding invites written in metallic ink, metallic bridesmaid dresses or even a metallic cake! It’s up to you how far you go with the metallics trend, your entire wedding could be filled with bronzes, rose golds, silvers, and so on, or you could opt for very small accents of metallic to add to your colour theme. If your colours were pastel and light, a metallic colour would bring in some warmth and depth and would make sure your wedding doesn’t look too washed out.

An up and coming trend at the moment is bouquets made out of jewels, beads and brooches. This is a simple way of adding metallics to your wedding. They make your bridal outfit very modern looking. And because it isn’t made of real flowers you have the option of keeping your bouquet forever as a piece of memorabilia from your big day because it will never wilt!

If you’re more of a DIY bride you too can add metallics into your wedding. painting wine bottles, mason jars and jam jars with metallic paint are an inexpensive way to decorate your venue and tables. And then simply add flowers or candles. Everyday objects like books, plates and so on suddenly turn into fabulous looking decorations once you’ve sprayed them with some metallic paint.

If wine bottles and jars don’t excite you, why not gather some branches, twigs, leaves and stems and spray them metallic? With readily available plant material in your back garden this idea is very cost effective. This idea would give your wedding a nice earthy, nature feel to it, but instead of rustic it would be modern and expensive looking – simply because you painted them metallic.

Finding items that are already metallic is another way to do this trend. If you happen to know a Plumber (perhaps you are marrying one?) why not ask them if they have any spare copper piping? Connect lengths of pipe together to create your own unique shapes and decorate it with flowers and so on. The copper piping would be ideal for an industrial style twist to your wedding.

Cake decorating has come along leaps and bounds. Cake Decorators can create almost anything out of cake and design it just the way you want. To make your cake in-keeping with your metallic theme why not have a metallic cake! They look beautiful and taste amazing!

We hope we have inspired you to try a splash of metallic in your wedding. It really does take your wedding styling up a notch!

Here are some pictures of metallics used in weddings to give you a visual idea of how you could do it yourself. The first four pictures below are images from our Wedding Event with a Difference which took place on 8th March 2015. Michele Gledhill styled the catwalk with metallics and flowers.
