A Bride’s Journal | Emma & Andy | Part Two |
Emma & Andy are back on the blog (you can read their first instalment here) with their latest wedding plans and we are SO excited to catch up on all of their wonderful wedding gossip. With just six months to go until the big day (eeeek) it’s time to get the lowdown with the lovely Emma…
What is your colour palette / wedding theme?
Those of you who know me, or follow my Instagram page won’t be surprised to hear that grey is the main theme of the day! It’ll be mixed with white, green foliage, and splashes of navy but kept fairly minimal and elegant.
The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and we don’t want to detract too much from the rustic elements of the old, converted barns so decorations will be fairly minimal too. I’m a sucker for a good quote though, so expect plenty of chalkboards!
Where have you found your inspiration?
Instagram and Pinterest have been my main source of inspiration, in fact i even had a ‘Wedding’ board before we were engaged! It’s so easy to while away an evening with a laptop and a glass of wine, pinning away, but it’s so easy to get carried away too – especially when the dreaded B word comes up.
Budgeting is something we’ve done from day 1 of planning and our creative sides have enabled us to save a few pennies along the way, but it’s easy to forget that a lot of what you see on Pinterest is styled, so we’ve found DIY ideas, ‘Real Wedding’ blogs and following our photographer on Instagram a great source of inspiration too.
How did you ask your bridesmaids to be a part of your bride tribe?
It was inevitable that my bridesmaids would be my bridesmaids – the 4 of us have been best friends since school and we’ve been inseparable ever since. But I still wanted to do something special for them so I took them on a little trip to see the venue and asked them whilst we were there. I made each of them a card that said “Now act surprised like you had no idea this was coming!”… and needless to say, they all said yes!
Do you know where you’ll be going / what you’ll be doing on your hen party?
In true, traditional style, I’ve tasked my bridesmaids with organising my hen party. They’ve known me long enough to know what I do and don’t like and I trust them completely (or at least I think I can!) The whole thing is a complete surprise and all I know so far is the date!
Are there any wedding traditions you’ll be sticking to / ignoring?
We want our day to feel completely personal to us so we’ll be doing things like writing our own vows and swapping a cake for cheese. However, we’ll still keep some of the more traditional elements which are most important to us like not seeing each other the day before and my Dad walking me down the aisle.
How have you found the wedding planning journey so far?
We’ve got just over 6 months to go and we’re still finding the planning journey loads of fun. We’ve had nights out to see potential bands, nights in sampling wine and we’re loving every minute of it! We’ve still got a fair few things to sort, but neither of us feel stressed. I naturally like to organise and plan, so you’ll never find me too far from my Wedding Planning Journal, spreadsheet or weekly tick list!
What part of the wedding are you most looking forward to?
The whole day will be a reflection of Andy and I as a couple, spent with our closest friends and families; eating, drinking and dancing as only we know best – so we’re really looking forward to that! But as cheesy as it sounds, ultimately we’re just looking forward to being married. To being a Mr & Mrs and beginning our next adventure together…
How amazing does Emma & Andy’s wedding sound? Keep your eyes peeled for their third and final instalment of their wedding planning journey, but in the meantime if you need another dose of real wedding inspo, pop over to the blog now!
